Architects for Humanity
Dennis Crompton, founding member of the infamous and groundbreaking architectural group called Archigram, came to San Francisco on a rare visit. Archigram was formed in Britain in the early 1960's. A group of six young architects, with a vision for the future and penchant for fantastic creations, developed designs with the interest of the individual in mind. The world was going through a revolution with technology just beginning to rear its progressive head, and Archigram had the audacity and the guts to voice their opinion, illustrate those through drawings and writings, and declare their vision to the rest of the world. The Archigram Group continued developing what they call experimental architecture until 1974. After that, they began to teach and influence future generations to have the same visions they had, the same awareness of society and the responsibility that architecture and design has to promote the needs of its environment.
